Beginning in the 2022-2023 school year, RRM has partnered with Boulder High School’s orchestra department to provide string sectional coachings. The goal of this collaboration is to further student development as orchestral musicians through intensive instruction that supplements the teaching of school faculty. RRM string coaches provide a series of weekly 3-hour sessions for violin and viola during regularly scheduled school rehearsal time. During these sessions, the instructors work with the students on perfecting orchestra performance repertoire, in preparation for scheduled performances. Describing the impact of this work, BHS Director of Orchestras Ryan Woodworth states: “Each sectional helped all students progress to a new musical level and encouraged confidence. I received regular comments from students that they loved the way these teachers communicated, and the love and joy of making music that they brought to the sectional time really helped inspire each ensemble. Thank you again for helping build this partnership to encourage students to move toward their musical potential.”
