Jed grew up on the east coast, in a little town called Osterville where he spent a lot of time reading and daydreaming. In the senior year of college, he tried his hand at writing fiction and loved it. Off he went to a graduate program in writing and then into the world where he worked as a temp while trying to write his novel.
As luck would have it, one of the places that hired him as a temp was an advertising agency. They let him try copywriting and they liked what he did. When they were purchased by Hill Holiday, they let on that Jed was their copywriter. And, though Jed would likely never tell you this, it turned out that he was really, really good at it—inventive, collaborative, business-like and fun to work with.
From there to Ogilvy and Mather and then Wieden and Kennedy then years freelancing, then Jed started his own agency with a partner from Wieden. Jed helped lead that agency for twelve good years—and one bad year. Now, Jed is freelancing again and finding that his experience and perspective make it a lot easier for him to help his clients say what they need to say and do what they need to do.
In other important news, Jed lives in a house in the middle of a garden with his wife to whom he is devoted. He has three more or less adult sons of whom he thinks the world. And, in a recent move, there is now a dog who is delightful. Oh, and also cats.
