David has given himself 60 days to do all of Beethoven’s 32 sonatas. He posts daily to his YouTube channel. Check them out on David’s YouTube channel!

In other news, one of David’s former students, Diego Caetano, just accepted a new job at Sam Houston State University in Texas as a piano performance professor—congrats to Diego!

Magdalena, while at home during the COVID-19 Crisis, has been releasing one video per week as part of a series called Bach@Home. The videos feature a piano and harpsichord performance of works by Bach, followed by a short discussion of interpretation and performance practice. You can watch these through her YouTube channel. Gerardo is continuing “Beethoven 2020,” the project he began in 2019: dedicating the rest of the year to performances and the preparation of Beethoven’s music in celebration of his 250th birthday. In addition to his scheduled performances at Rocky Ridge this summer, Gerardo is scheduled to play Beethoven’s last three piano sonatas in Munich and Vienna July 30 and August 10, 2020!

Register for this awesome seminar given by Hsing-ay Hsu, a member of our celebrated Adult Piano Seminar faculty. Hsing-ay developed her Conscious Listening™ method to guide audience listening for each composer’s unique language. With discussions and keyboard demos, interact with new friends and listen like a pro for the dynamic interplay of musical elements. These seminars are designed for the inquisitive music-lover or active performer. You will start with easy piano pieces and dive into the musical elements that live within the score. Since last summer’s Rocky Ridge season, John has released his first commercial solo recording, “Lines at Dusk,” on the Navona label!

John also hosted the 2019 International Horn Competition of America, one of the largest solo horn competitions in the world. Learn more about it here!

James and his colleagues recently founded an internet competition called Progressive Musicians for pianists and violinists of all ages and levels. Contestants must submit videos of their performances online, the judges will send them evaluations, after which a chance to resubmit an improved video will be given. The results of the second submission will be used to determine the winners.  The deadline to apply is May, 1.  If contestants apply by April 15, they will be eligible for a discounted application fee and still have the luxury of waiting until May 1 to send their videos. Winners will have the opportunity to perform in Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall on December 6, 2020.  More information can be found on their website: www.progressivemusicians.com. Progressive Musicians is dedicated to helping musicians achieve their goals and advance artistically.
