SUMMER JOB VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

 

Job Title:    Head Chef   Reports to: Executive Director

 

Job Description:             Head Chef plans nutritious, well-prepared meals, which are served to all students, staff, and guests.

 

Job Location:    Rocky Ridge Music Center Summer Campus, 465 Longs Peak Rd. Estes Park, CO

Duties:   Oversees daily operations of the food service and works within allocated budget. Plans weekly menus in consultation with the Executive Director and prepares or oversees all meals. Orders groceries, supplies, and utensils for dining hall distribution. Adheres to the highest standards of food safety and preparation, and understands and meets special dietary needs and known allergies. Manages routine sanitation of the kitchen and related equipment. Manages and maintains all food-preparation and storage areas. Supervises the cleaning of prep, service, and dining hall dishes. Supervises and directs the work of the kitchen assistants, including work-study students.  Other Duties: Prepare refreshments for concert receptions and special events. Open and close the kitchen at the beginning and end of the season.

Compensation:               $25 to $30 per hour, full-time non-exempt position, room & board negotiable.

Employment Dates:       May 19 to August 15, 2025

Qualifications:    Experience in institutional food service setting, and willingness to learn. Knowledge of standards of food preparation, sanitation, and serving, storage of food, and kitchen procedures. Ability to work amiably alongside work-study students. Good time management skills. Reliable transportation.

Physical Demands:    Ability to lift and carry 30 pounds including unloading food, carrying trays of dishes, and lifting water jugs, supplies and equipment as needed. Visual ability to identify and respond to environmental hazards. Physical ability to operate kitchen equipment per safe recommended methods. Physical mobility and endurance to perform tasks while standing for long periods of time (60 minutes or more). Ability to determine cleanliness of dishes, food surfaces, and kitchen area. Ability to assess condition of food.

Other:   As a residential summer program, Rocky Ridge Music Center maintains a strict alcohol and drug policy. Participation in anti-sexual harassment training webinar and background check are required. Appropriate attire required for safety. CPR, AED, and First Aid training are highly recommended.
