Dear Rocky Ridge Families,

We are excited as always about the upcoming summer camp season. As you know, the health and safety of all campers, faculty, and staff is of the utmost importance to us here at Rocky Ridge Music Center.  With coronavirus on everyone’s mind, we wanted to let you know what steps we are taking to ensure that we are prepared before the students arrive.

First, we are remaining informed by receiving timely updates from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as well as from the Colorado Department of Health. We recognize that there are many different unverified sources of information about coronavirus online and on social media; however, these sources are sometimes not based on science and may be unintentionally alarming.  For the most accurate and up-to-date information, we are relying on only official sources as well as through the professional guidance offered by the American Camp Association, the American Academy of Pediatrics and local health officials.

Second, leadership along with our medical team are reviewing all of our camp protocols and meeting on a regular basis to address the situation. This entails looking at how campers and staff will be screened before coming to camp (e.g., recent travel, current health, and temperature and symptom checks); our basic hygiene procedures; building, bunk and bathroom sanitation; our plans to keep camp families informed; and what additional training and orientation we will provide our staff.  We are also confident that our past experience dealing with similar issues that affected our camp community over the years will serve us well as we prepare for any contingencies that may arise.

Some of you have asked about our international campers. While majority of our campers are domestic students, we can assure you that our campers will only travel to camp if both they and we are confident at the time that this will pose no risk. In addition, we will ensure that the pre-camp screenings and tests required for our campers are more comprehensive and reflect the most up-to-date and available protocols.

It is understandable to be concerned and have questions. This is a rapidly evolving situation. We will send updates to you as important new information comes to our attention in the coming weeks and months.

Sincerely,

SoYoung Lee                         Stephen Dilts, M.D.
