Rocky Ridge 2008 Music Programs

Young Artist Seminar -- YAS (for ages 15-24)
June 9 to July 12, 2008      (Arrive June 8, Depart July 13)

The Young Artist Seminar (YAS) is a 5 week camp for advanced students in the upper High School grades and College. YAS is designed to be an intensive seminar highlighted by instruction from world renowned faculty and visiting artists, orchestral and chamber music experience, voice and chamber choir as well as frequent performance opportunities.

YAS Short Session -- YAS (for ages 15-24)
June 23 to July 12, 2008      (Arrive June 22, Depart July 13)

For those unable to attend the entire session of YAS, limited positions are available for a three week session running concurrently with YAS.

Junior Student Seminar -- JSS (for ages 10-14)
Session 1:  July 15 - July 27, 2008      (Arrive July 15, Depart July 27*)
Session 2:  July 29 - August 10, 2008      (Arrive July 29, Depart Aug 10*)

The Junior Student Seminars(JSS) begin immediately after the completion of YAS and cater to young musicians (ages 10-14). Along with private lessons, orchestra, theory and choir, the students are encouraged to participate in recreational activities that range from horseback riding to crafts to hiking in the surrounding Rocky Mountain National Park. There are performance opportunities every evening, and the session concludes with a weekend of final concerts which parents are invited and encouraged to attend.  After attending junior sessions, many older students move on to YAS.

NOTE: Some 15-year olds may be eligible for JSS

* Students flying alone may depart by 10 a.m. on the day after session end.

Other Seminars -- Other Seminars
August 12 - August 17, 2008 (Dates vary for each seminar)

There are a variety of other programs including: piano, piano pedagogy, brass and guitar.  The piano and piano pedagogy programs are for adults (18+) while the other seminars are open to all ages   These programs run concurrent and include faculty & group concerts at the end of the session.  Look for additional offerings this season.
