Kathryn Hendrickson is a flutist and educator from Fairbanks, Alaska. She holds both a bachelor’s (BM) and master’s degree (MA) from the University of Alaska Fairbanks, which she completed under the tutelage of Dorli McWayne. In addition to her studies at the university, she participated in masterclasses and lessons with Carol Wincenc, John Barcellona, Hilliary Abigana from The Forth Wall, Nicole Esposito, and Dr. Naomi Seidman.

Ms. Hendrickson was an adjunct instructor at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, taught privately, and presented masterclasses throughout rural, interior Alaska. She has enjoyed many rich experiences as an orchestral, solo, and chamber musician. Ms. Hendrickson played with the Fairbanks Symphony Orchestra for many years as principal flute, second flute, and principal piccolo. In addition to orchestral playing, she has a profound interest in both contemporary and classical repertoire for the flute. She has appeared in concerts in South Korea, Canada, and throughout the United States.

Ms. Hendrickson’s duo, The Midnight Sun Two, is currently working on a project consisting of commissioning and premiering chamber works for flute and percussion. The Midnight Sun Two has received works from composers Emerson Eads (Alaska), Lucus Oikle (Canada), and Derek Charke (Canada).

Ms. Hendrickson is a member of the National Flute Association and she is currently the treasurer of the Colorado Flute Association. She is a trained instructor with the Suzuki Association of the Americas, and is presently the flute instructor at the Rocky Ridge Music Academy. Ms. Hendrickson a Graduate Teaching Assistant at The University of Colorado Boulder where she is a candidate for a Doctor of Musical Arts degree, studying with the renowned Christina Jennings.
