A former advisory council member, John joined the staff of Rocky Ridge in 2015 after a two-decade career in public policy and management research at Chapin Hall at the University of Chicago. While at Chapin Hall, he was involved in a wide range of research projects partnering with government agencies at all levels with the aim of improving services through the use of analytics in decision-making. In this capacity he was responsible for statistical analysis, data warehouse development, and research design, and accumulated deep expertise not only in research methods but a broad array of service sectors, including social services, education, and healthcare. John holds a B.A. in Philosophy from the University of Colorado at Boulder, and an M.A. in Public Policy Studies from the University of Chicago, where he also pursued doctoral studies in sociology. An accomplished amateur classical guitarist, he has long been interested in the link between the arts and child development and has served as a volunteer or pro bono consultant for many nonprofits in the arts and culture arena.
